About Us

Face to face with a Borneo Orangutan was an unexpected pleasure while visiting up the Sekonyer River.  This forest reserve is home to 6000 wild orangutans, the largest surviving population.  Clearing land for timber production and planning palm oil trees and rubber trees had reduced their homeland.

We traveled up the river on a converted fishing boat.  It was most comfortable and the crew took care of everything.  It was a bit like Bogart in the African Queen.  All was organized Mr. Bain in Kumai.  He is quite resourceful and dies a great job.
